Currency derivatives and their uses

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce má za cíl vysvětlit čtenářovi měnové deriváty a jejich stále se rozšiřující využití ve světě financí. V první kapitole je popsán devizový trh, jakožto prostředí, kde jsou měnové deriváty obchodovány. V druhé kapitole je vysvětleno kursové riziko a jednotlivé typy devizových expozicí, ve kterých se subjekty ohroženy kursovým rizikem mohou nacházet. V třetí kapitole a následných podkapitolách jsou popsány hlavní typy měnových derivátů. Tato bakalářská práce je primárně zaměřena na teorii vycházející jak z českých, tak i amerických literárních publikací. Má za cíl předat čtenářovi to nejdůležitější o každém z derivátů. Obsahem jsou jak základní teoretické koncepty, tak i pokročilejší témata (např. podkapitola 3.3.2.6). Práce je zakončena praktickou částí, kde se nacházejí příklady zobrazující možná využití jednotlivých měnových derivátů.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis has a goal of explaining to the reader what currency derivatives are and how are the uses of currency derivatives affecting the world of finance. In the first chapter is an explanation of FX markets as a place where currency derivatives are traded. In the second chapter we explain currency risk and certain types of expositions in which traders are affected by currency risk. In the third chapter we explain the main types of currency derivatives. This bachelor’s thesis is based primarily on theoretical concepts from Czech and American literature. Its main goal is to talk about the most important points regarding each of the currency derivatives. The content includes both basic theoretical concepts and more advanced topics (e.g., subsection 3.3.2.6). The thesis ends with a practical part, where there are examples showing the possible use cases of individual currency derivatives in practice.
