Integrating Immigrant Children into Primary Schools in The Czech Republic and Norway

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Integrace dětí přistěhovalců do základních škol v České republice a v Norsku má za cíl popsat, charakterizovat a analyzovat současný stav integrace v obou zemích a porovnat, v čem se liší a v čem jsou podobné. První část je teoretická, vysvětluje důležité pojmy používané v práci a představuje téma integrace přistěhovalců na teoretické úrovni s uvedením zákonů a doporučení. Zakončena je srovnáním obou zemí na základě doposud uvedených informací. Druhá část je empirická. Jde o ukázku dvou případových studií. První případová studie detailně popisuje jednu z brněnských škol vyznačující se přijímáním dětí cizinců a její opatření k úspěšnému začleňování nových žáků. Druhá potom podrobněji seznamuje s realitou na jedné z osloských škol. Následně jsou v práci zodpovězeny výzkumné otázky položené na začátku empirické části. Školy jsou na závěr podrobeny analýze, zda se řídí doporučeními a nařízeními uvedenými v teoretické části. Za techniky sběru dat byly zvoleny rozhovory, zúčastněné pozorování a analýza dokumentů.

Abstract:

The Master thesis Integrating Immigrant Children into Primary Schools in The Czech Republic and Norway has aim to describe, characterize and analyze the current state of integration in both countries and to compare in what the two countries are different and similar. The first part is theoretical, explaining concepts important for the whole thesis. It describes the topic integration of immigrant children on a theoretical level and specifies the state laws and recommendations. The second part is empirical. It is an illustration of two case studies. The first case study describes one of the schools in Brno which is characterized by accepting foreign children and the measures for the successful integration of new children. The second case study further depicts the reality on one of the schools in Oslo. The research questions posed at the beginning are answered and the school reality is compared with the recommendations and regulations referred in the theoretical part. As a techniques for research was chosen interviews, participant observation and document analysis.
