UN Intervention: Case Study Sierra Leone

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská se zabývá problematikou vyhodnocování úspěšnosti peacekeepingových misí vedených OSN. Peacekeepingové mise jsou od svého počátku používány hlavně k řešení akutních krizí vyvstalých v mezinárodním společenství. V práci je představen evaluační rámec celosvětově uznávaných autorů Diehla a Druckamana, na jehož základě je mise v Sierra Leone vyhodnocována. Tato mise je všeobecně považována za jednu z nejúspěšnějších misí OSN, i tak ale byly nalezeny některé nedostatky a neúspěchy mise.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the issue of evaluating peacekeeping missions led by United Nations. Peacekeeping missions are, since their beginning, implemented to resolve imminent crisis which emerged in the international community. Evaluation criteria used in this thesis come from internationally recognised authors Diehl and Druckman, on which basis is the peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone analysed. This mission is considered to be one of the most successful missions of the United Nations, though it has not been without obstacles and therefore some criteria has been evaluated as unsuccessful.
