Structure - function studies of lectins from opportunistic bacteria

Structure - function studies of lectins from opportunistic bacteria
Abstract:
Lektiny jsou proteiny neimunitního původu, které specificky rozpoznávají cukerné struktury. Některé rostlinné a živočišné patogeny využívají těchto protein-cukerných interakcí k jejich strategii při invazi do hostitele. Předkládaná disertační práce přibližuje studium mechanismů molekulárních interakcí mezi lektiny produkované bakteriálními patogeny Burkholderia cenocepacia a Ralstonia solanacearum …more
Abstract:
Lectins are carbohydrate-binding proteins of non-immune origin that bind specifically to complex carbohydrates. Some plant and animal pathogens use these protein-carbohydrate interactions in their strategy for host recognition in early stage of invasion. The presented Ph.D. thesis is approaching the study of molecular mechanisms of interactions between lectins produced by pathogenic bacteria Burkholderia …more
