Accounting treatment of long-term tangible and intangible assets according to the accounting standards

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice účtování dlouhodobého hmotného a nehmotného majetku podle, v době psaní této práce, platných českých účetních a daňových předpisů a související legislativy (předpisy platné pro rok 2009). V teoretické části jsou definovány jednotlivé kategorie dlouhodobého hmotného a nehmotného majetku, podmínky jeho pořízení a oceňování. Dále je vysvětlen pojem technické zhodnocení a jsou popsány zásady, postupy a způsoby odepisování jednotlivých kategorií majetku, včetně použití odpisů majetku jako interního zdroje financování účetní jednotky. Závěr teoretické části je věnován popisu tvorby opravných položek, způsobům vyřazení a likvidace majetku. Stěžejním záměrem v praktické části je pomocí ilustrativního příkladu, který vychází z reálných čísel existující firmy, vyhodnotit zvolené metody odepisování majetku a navrhnout řešení pro úpravu výsledku hospodaření při tvorbě základu daně z příjmu k optimalizaci daňové povinnosti.

Abstract:

This thesis focus on accounting treatment of long-term intangible and non-intangible assets according to the accounting standards and other relevant and existing law at the time of writing this thesis. The aim of theoretical part is to define the main categories of long-term intangible and non-intangible assets. Further, the objective is to describe the accounting treatment of acquiring of long-term intangible and non-intangible assets and also to mention commonly used evaluation methods. In addition to this, the thesis explains the depreciation methods and roles for long-term intangible and non-intangible assets. Moreover, it describes the concept of using the costs related to assets depreciation as internal financing method. The end of theoretical part focuses on the accounting treatment for allowance for assets deprecation, assets retirement and assets write off. The main objective of practical part is, based on the real numbers from existing company, to compare and evaluate the chosen methods of assets depreciation from the ATOI impact point of view. The outcome of this thesis is to provide the clear evaluation of used methods and recommend the most favorable solution to optimize tax liability
