Contemporary industrial music and its historical roots

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na současnou industriální hudbu a vlivy, kterými je utvářena. V první části práce je na příkladech nejznámějších a nejvlivnějších představitelů nastíněna historie industriální hudby od úplných počátků v sedmdesátých letech až do devadesátých let. Druhá část práce se pak věnuje přímo současné industriální scéně nejen jako hudebnímu stylu, ale i jako stylu životnímu. Třetí část porovnává industriální hudbu různých dekád z hlediska textů a tvůrčích postupů, a na základě tohoto porovnání dochází k závěrům, nakolik se industriální hudba v průběhu dekád proměnila, jaké styly ji ovlivnily a naopak, a jaké typické prvky si uchovala.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is concerned with contemporary industrial music and its influences. The first part of the thesis sums up the history of industrial music from the very beginning in the 70s to the 90s and gives examples of some of the most known and most important industrial musicians. The second part deals with contemporary industrial scene, not only with the music, but also with the lifestyle of its fans. In the third part, the sound, lyrics and visuals of different decades are compared. On the basis of this comparison is shown how industrial music changed through decades, which other artistic and musical movements was it influenced by and the other way round, and what its typical elements are.
