Theater in Mikulov during the era of the Dietrichstein Family (From the end of the 16th century to the Second World War)

Abstract:

Práce se snaží zmapovat divadelní život v Mikulově od doby, kdy panství získal knížecí rod Dietrichsteinů, až do začátku druhé světové války. Ve svých hlavních částech se zabývá zámeckou divadelní kulturou, školským divadlem, kočovnými společnostmi, které do města přijížděly a v neposlední řadě také zrodem měšťanské kultury. Sledování divadelní historie ve městě je také spjato s odkrýváním problémů týkající se prostor, ve kterých bylo možné divadelní představení hrát. Opomenuty nejsou ani osobnosti evropského divadla, které se v Mikulově narodily, jako například herec, dramatik a divadelní ředitel prvního stálého hereckého souboru na zámku v Českém Krumlově Johann Georg Gettner (? – 1696) či politik a divadelní reformátor Josef von Sonnenfels (1732 – 1817).

Abstract:

The thesis presented here maps the theater scene in Mikulov from the time when the estate was acquired by the Dietrichstein family until the beginning of the Second World War. It addresses primarily theater culture, school theater, roving companies that periodically visited, and lastly, the birth of bourgeois culture. The study of theater history in the city is reveals problems concerning the places where the theatrical performances could be played. Attention is also paid to the most important personalities of European theater who were born in Mikulov such as the actor, playwright, and theater director of the first permanent ensemble at the Český Krumlov Castle, Johann Georg Gettner (? - 1696) or the politician and theater reformer Josef Sonnenfels (1732 - 1817).
