Kryo-elektrónová mikroskopia je v súčasnosti rýchlo sa vyvíjajúcou metódou štruktúrnej biológie, ktorá umožňuje pozorovať biomolekuly, akými sú napríklad proteíny a ich komplexy, s vysokým rozlíšením, a tým zabezpečiť ich správnu 3D rekonštrukciu.
