Quality of life of children with diabetes mellitus type I and his family

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jakou mají děti s onemocněním diabetes mellitus 1. typu ve věku 2 ? 12 let kvalitu života a jaký má toto onemocnění celkový vliv na rodinu. Dále zjistit, zda je kvalita jejich života ovlivněna věkem, pohlavím, délkou trvání nemoci, způsobem léčby a mírou kompenzace onemocnění. Metodika: K výzkumu byly použity standardizované hodnotící nástroje PedsQL? 4.0 a PedsQL? 2.0. Pro srovnání kvality života dle různých parametrů byl použit Wilcoxonův test, Kruskal-Wallisův test, chí-kvadrát test, Spearmanův korelační koeficient. Statistické testy byly hodnoceny na hladině významnosti 5 %. Výsledky: Šetření ukázalo větší vliv onemocnění na rodiny (M = 61,1) než na děti (M = 75,44), (p = 0,003). Z porovnání proměnných vyplývá, že pohlaví, věk, délka trvání nemoci, způsob léčby ani míra kompenzace nemají vliv na obecnou celkovou kvalitu života dětí. Počet sourozenců má vliv na rozdíl v kvalitě života diabetických dětí, čím má dítě menší počet sourozenců, tím má nižší kvalitu života. Celkový dopad na rodinu diabetických dětí má věk dítěte, péče o mladší dítě s sebou přináší nižší kvalitu života rodiny. Nejnižší skóre kvality dosahují rodiny dětí ve věku 2 ? 4 roky. Závěr: U dětí s onemocněním diabetes mellitus 1. typu ovlivňuje jejich kvalitu života nejen jejich onemocnění, ale také péče jejich rodičů a harmonie rodinného soužití. Na celkové kvalitě života rodiny se odráží spokojenost jejich nemocného dítěte a zvládání náročné situace spojené s nemocí dítěte.

Abstract:

Objective: The aim of the thesis was to find out what children with diabetes mellitus type 1, aged 2-12 years, have quality of life and what is the overall impact of the disease on the family. Find out, whether the quality of their life is affected by age, sex, duration of disease, method of treatment and the level of compensation diseases. Methods: The study used a standardized assessment tools PedsQL? 4.0 and PedsQL? 2.0. There were used Wilcoxon test, Kruskal-Wallis test, chi-square test, Spearman correlation coefficient to compare the quality of life by various parameters. Statistical tests were evaluated at a significance level of 5%. Results: The survey showed a greater impact of disease on the family (M = 61.13) than on the children (M = 75.44), (p = 0,003). The comparison of the variables show that sex, age, duration of disease, method of treatment or level of compensation do not overall affect the general quality of life of children. The number of siblings has an influence as opposed on the quality of life of diabetic children, the child has a smaller number of siblings, it has a lower quality of life. The overall impact on the family of diabetic children have an age of child, care for the younger child brings with it a lower quality of life for families. The lowest score of quality reach families of children aged 2-4 years. Conclusion: The quality life of children with diabetes mellitus type 1 is affected not only by their disease, but also care of their parents and harmony of family life. The overall quality of family life is reflected on satisfaction of their ill child and coping with difficult situations associated with the illness of a child.
