Implementation of populistic rhetoric of Andrej Babiš during the covid-19 pandemic

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje vybraným rétorickým strategiím, kterými Andrej Babiš v rámci svých pravidelných nedělních příspěvků na sociální síti Facebook realizuje populistickou rétoriku v průběhu pandemie nemoci covid-19. Analýza je realizovaná pomocí členské kategorizační analýzy a pozornost je zaměřena na několik vybraných jazykových a rétorických prostředků, které jsou pro populistickou rétoriku v rámci politického diskurzu signifikantní. Bylo zjištěno, že v tomto období Andrej Babiš v rámci svých projevů volí emotivní vyznění a nejčastěji se staví do role veřejného ochránce lidu.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with selected rhetorical strategies by which Andrej Babiš implements populist rhetoric during the covid-19 pandemic as part of his regular Sunday posts on the social network Facebook. The analysis is carried out using member categorization analysis and attention is focused on several selected linguistic and rhetorical means that are significant for populist rhetoric in political discourse. It was found that in this period Andrej Babiš chooses an emotional message in his speeches and most often plays the role of public defender of the people.
