The study of interaction lignocellulose materials with dilute vapours of essential oils

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo proměřit a vyhodnotit vlivy směsí par vody a esenciálních olejů na lignocelulózové materiály. Hlavním záměrem bylo nalézt metody ochrany knižního fondu před škodlivými mikroorganismy. Z toho důvodu byla navržena metoda založená na studiu difúze a následné kondenzace esenciálních olejů v pórovitém materiálu. Předmětem měření byl celek šesti esenciálních olejů s vhodnými účinky a pět druhů papíru z různých vláknin. Měření probíhalo gravimetricky za standardních podmínek. Vzorek byl uzavřen v exsikátoru s daným esenciálním olejem a roztokem NaCl, který dotvářel relativní vlhkost prostředí. Vzorky byly do exsikátoru přeneseny po jejich vysušení nad silikagelem a jejich hmotnostní přírůstky byly sledovány po stanovenou dobu v určitých časových intervalech. Výsledné hodnoty měření byly zpracovány a vyhodnoceny porovnáváním materiálů, prostředím a existencí difundujících složek v prostředí. Každý testovaný vzorek papíru byl také popsán svými optickými vlastnostmi. Dále byla stanovena tuhost vzorků a jejich polymerační stupeň.

Abstract:

Aim of this thesis was to measure and evaluate influences of the compound of water and essential oils vapors on lignocellulose materials. The main purpose was to discover how to protect book archives from harmful microorganisms. From this reason there was designed the method based on the study of diffusion and consequential condensation of essential oils in porous material. The subject of the measurement was complex of six types of essential oils with convenient influences and five types of paper made from different fibre materials. The measurement was processed gravimetrically under standard conditions. The sample was closed in the silica-gel together with the proper essential oil and with the substance which completed the relative humidity. Samples dried using silica-gel were transferred to the desiccator, and their weight increases were observed for the specified time at certain intervals. The final values of measurement were further processed and evaluated by the comparing of materials, environments and occurence of diffusing compounds. Every tested paper sample was also described with its optical properties. There were also determined stiffness of samples and their degree of polymerization.
