Methodology of Teaching Basic and Advanced Guitar Techniques in Metal Genres

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je metodikou výuky základních i pokročilých technik sólové hry na elektrickou kytaru v žánru metal, která popisuje a ilustruje možné způsoby výuky s využitím maximální efektivnosti praktických cvičení. Vše je popisováno na elektrické kytaře ve stan-dardním ladění s velkým zkreslením zvuku. Na začátku práce je stručně popsána historie žánru metal a jeho základní hudební charakteristiky. Rozvíjející informace týkající se ozvu-čení, příslušenství a elektrické kytary jako takové se nacházejí v přílohách. Dále jsou uve-deny kroky, které jsou důležité před samotnou hrou, tj. držení nástroje, trsátka apod. Práce seznámí vyučujícího se všemi esenciálními technikami typickými pro žánr metal jako např. galloping, sweep picking, hraní power akordů, economy picking, alternate picking aj. Při seznamování s těmito technikami práce postupuje metodou výčtu jednotlivých kroků při provedení konkrétní techniky. Nezbytnou součástí metodiky jsou ilustrační snímky a noto-vé ukázky jednotlivých popsaných cvičení.

Abstract:

This bachelor's work is the methodology of basic and advanced techniques used in lead guitar playing in genres such as metal which describes and illustrates possible ways of teaching with the use of the most effective and practical exercises. The delineated exercises where described in standard tuning with a lot of distortion. On the outset of the work, there's briefly mentioned history of metal genre and its basic musical characteristics. Addi-tional content concerning information about equipment and sound of electric guitar can be found in the enclosures. There are also included important pre-playing steps such as instru-ment positioning, pick holding and positioning et cetera. The work will introduce the teacher to all the essential techniques typical of metal genre for example galloping, sweep picking, power chords, economy picking, alternate picking, tapping etc. While getting fa-miliar with these types of techniques the work uses the method of chunking, thus, teaching the student step by step through the learning process of each technique. The vital parts of this methodology are illustrations, photos and sheet music demonstrations of each exercise.
