Supporting sport in Czech cities: Quantitative indicators of sport support and their application

Abstract:

Přínosem této práce je sestavení souboru kvantitativních ukazatelů úrovně podpory sportu a jejich aplikace v podobě tří různých metodických aparátů. Literární rešerše projednává dva pojmy – finanční podpora sportu a městský profil. U vybraných ukazatelů podpory sportu došlo k úpravě dat do požadova-né podoby za účelem obodování jednotlivých měst a určení dílčího pořadí. Je-jich aplikaci předcházelo sestavení tří metodických aparátu k měření celkové úrovně podpory sportu v českých městech. Vše je doplněno korelacemi ukaza-telů, jenž výzkum doplňují o informace, zdali jsou vazby kladné nebo záporné. Výsledky práce potvrzují možnost měření úrovně podpory sportu ve městech pomocí souboru kvantitativních ukazatelů a vyměřují míru podpory sportu. Vše naznačuje tomu, že různé přístupy mohou ovlivnit rozhodování v oblasti pod-pory sportu. Pro města je klíčové zanalyzovat stávající situaci a zaměřit se na oblasti ve kterých pokulhávají. Primárním úkolem místní samosprávy by měl být kvalitně zpracovaný strategický plán rozvoje sportu za účelem zlepšení podmínek sportu pro všechny.

Abstract:

The contribution of this thesis is the compilation of a set of quantitative indicators of the level of sport support and their application in the form of three different methodological apparatuses. The literature search discusses two concepts - financial support for sport and urban profile. For the selected indicators of sport support, the data were adjusted to the required form in order to ob- score the cities and determine the sub-ranking. Their application was preceded by the development of three methodological apparatuses for measuring the overall level of support for sport in Czech cities. All of this is complemented by correlations of the indicators, which supplement the research with information on whether the links are positive or negative. The results confirm the possibility of measuring the level of support for sport in cities using a set of quantitative indicators and measure the level of support for sport. All indications are that different approaches can influence decision-making in the area of sub-support of sport. It is crucial for cities to analyse the current situation and focus on areas where they are lagging behind. The primary task of local government should be a well-developed strategic plan for the development of sport in order to improve the conditions for sport for all.
