Engineering design of a prothetic finger for a human hand

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem a vývojem protetické náhrady prstů lidské ruky, zaměřenou na osoby se ztrátou druhého a třetího článku prstu. Hlavním cílem je vytvořit konstrukční systém, který umožní postiženým osobám vykonávat základní denní činnosti, čímž se zlepší jejich kvalita života. Důležitou součástí řešení je použití duálního čtyř-kloubového mechanismu, který napodobuje přirozené pohyby lidského prstu a poskytuje tvarovou přizpůsobivost. Tento mechanismus zajišťuje efektivní přenos sil a umožňuje uživateli intuitivní ovládání protézy. Díky využití 3D tisku je možné docílit individuálních rozměrů a vzhledu protetických prstů, což zlepšuje jejich funkčnost a estetiku. Kinematické simulace byly pro-vedeny pro testování různých úchopů a gest, zatímco pevnostní analýzy byly použity k ověření vhodnosti použitých materiálů. Práce rovněž hodnotí různé druhy protetických náhrad, přičemž se zaměřuje na tělem poháněné protézy, které nabízejí spolehlivost a nižší pořizovací náklady ve srovnání s myoelektric-kými protézami.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis examines the design and development of a prosthetic replacement for the fingers of the human hand, focusing on people with loss of the second and third phalanges. The main objective is to create a design system that will allow the affected persons to perform basic daily activities, thus improving their quality of life. An important part of the solution is the use of a dual four-bar mechanism that imitates the natural movements of the human finger and provides shape-adaptivity. This mechanism provides efficient force transfer and allows the user to intuitively control the prosthesis. Through the use of 3D printing, it is possible to achieve individual dimensions and appearance of prosthetic fingers, im-proving their functionality and aesthetics. Kinematic simulations were performed to test different grips and gestures, while strength analyses were used to verify the suitability of the materials used. The work also evaluates different types of prosthetic replacements, focusing on body-powered prostheses that offer reliability and lower acquisition costs compared to myoelectric prostheses.
