Structure and composition of ostracod assemblages (Ostracoda) along the gradient of mineral richness in the Western Carpathian spring fens

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo popsat vliv minerálně-trofického gradientu na společenstva lasturnatek (Ostracoda, Crustacea) prameništních slatinišť ve flyšovém pásu Vnějších Západních Karpat na Moravsko-Slovenském pomezí. Pro tento účel bylo vybráno 32 pramenišť, která postihují celou šíři minerálně-trofického gradientu působícím na tomto území. Jednotlivá prameniště se lišila fyzikálně-chemickými vlastnostmi pramenné vody a substrátem dna. Při vzorkování byly měřeny fyzikální a chemické vlastnosti prostředí a byly odebrány vzorky substrátu. Vzorky byly odebrány na podzim roku 2006 a v létě roku 2008. Celkem bylo determinováno 17 druhů lasturnatek (Candona candida, Candona lindneri, Candona neglecta, Cryptocandona reducta, Cryptocandona vavrai, Cyclocypris helocrenica, Cyclocypris laevis, Cypria ophtalmica, Cypria reptans, Eucypris pigra, Ilyocypris bradyi, Scottia pseudobrowniana, Potamocypris pallida, Pseudocandona sarsi, Psychrodromus fontinalis, Psychrodromus olivaceus a Ilyocypris inermis). Průměrně byly na lokalitu zachyceny 3 druhy, minimum činil žádný druh a maximum 8 druhů na lokalitu. Dva druhy, Cyclocypris helocrenica a Psychrodromus fontinalis, jsou nové pro Českou republiku, Cyclocypris helocrenica je pravděpodobně nový také pro Slovensko. Většina zachycených druhů je více či méně vázána na prameny, pouze tři druhy (Candona candida, Cyclocypris laevis a Cypria ophtalmica) jsou považován za ubikvistní. Minerálně-trofický gradient (reprezentován redox potenciálem, pH a vodivostí pramenné vody) vysvětloval nejvíce variability v druhových datech. Podél tohoto gradientu docházelo k postupné druhové výměně, ovšem počet druhů a celková abundance lasturnatek se podél tohoto gradientu neměnili. U ostatních proměnných prostředí (např. teplota a charakter substrátu dna) nebyl prokázán statisticky významný vliv na složení a strukturu společenstev lasturnatek těchto pramenišť.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to assess the influence of the poor-rich gradient on ostracods (Ostracoda, Crustacea) assemblages in the spring fens on flysch bedrock at Moravian-Slovakian borderland. 32 spring fens, which represents the whole poor-rich gradient occuring in this area, were choosen for this purpose. These sites differed in water chemistry and bottom substrate. The main physico-chemical parameters were measured and the samples of bottom substrate were gathered. The samples were taken in autumn 2006 and summer 2008. Seventeen species of ostracods, with an average of three species per site, were recorded (Candona candida, Candona lindneri, Candona neglecta, Cryptocandona reducta, Cryptocandona vavrai, Cyclocypris helocrenica, Cyclocypris laevis, Cypria ophtalmica, Cypria reptans, Eucypris pigra, Ilyocypris bradyi, Scottia pseudobrowniana, Potamocypris pallida, Pseudocandona sarsi, Psychrodromus fontinalis, Psychrodromus olivaceus and Ilyocypris inermis). The minimum number of species was zero and the maximum was eight species per site. Two species (Cyclocypris helocrenica and Psychrodromus fontinalis) are new records for the Czech republic, C. helocrenica is probably a new record also for Slovakia. Most of the identified species more or less prefer springs, only three species (Candona candida, Cyclocypris laevis a Cypria ophtalmica) are ubiquists. The poor-rich gradient (represented by redox potential, pH and conductivity) was the main factor which controlled the variability of species data. Species exchanged gradually along the poor-rich gradient but the number of species and the abundance of ostracods did not change. The remaining enviromental factors (incl. temperature and the character of bottom substrate) had no statistically significant influence on the composition and structure of ostracods assemblages in these spring fens.
