The Concept of Shrinking Cities in the Czech Cities

Abstract:

Počet smršťujících se měst neustále roste, a to nejen ve světovém měřítku. Snahou této práce je upozornit na strukturální, sociální a ekonomické změny, které v daných městech probíhají, jeli město zasaženo jevem shrinking cities. Cílem bakalářské práce je analýza měst Ostrava a Most. Analýza je jak kvantitativní, tak i kvalitativní. Kvantitativní analýza využívá veřejně dostupná data, přičemž kvalitativní analýza podrobuje zkoumání strategické dokumenty předmětných měst a jejich reflexi ohledně problematiky shrinking cities. Dílčím cílem jsou návrhy vlastních úprav, které jsou městům doporučeny. U obou měst dochází k smršťujícímu se procesu. Co je však protichůdné, je přístup k řešení problematiky shrinking cities a jeho jednotlivých aspektů.

Abstract:

The number of urban shrinking cities is constantly growing, not only on a global scale. The aim of this work is to draw attention to the structural, social and economic changes that are taking place in these cities, blanketing phenomenon shrinking cities. The aim of the thesis is the analysis of the cities of Ostrava and Most. The analysis is quantitative as well as qualitative. Quantitative analysis uses publicly available data, and qualitative analysis of analyses examining the strategic documents of the cities and their reflection on the problems of shrinking cities. Partial objective proposals customizations are the cities recommended. In both cities, the shrinking cities process. What is, however, contradictory, is the approach to solving the problems of shrinking cities and its various aspects.
