National European affairs coordination systems’ development in Centre and Eastern European Member States

Abstract:

Práce je kompilací čtyř článků, které mapují vývoj koordinace evropské agendy ve státech střední a východní Evropy. Každý z nich vychází z jiného konceptu neoinstitucionalismu a pokouší se zjistit, který z nich vysvětluje koordinační vývoj a změny nejpřesvědčivěji. Ze zkoumaných přístupů prokazuje největší explanační schopnost diskursivní institucionalismus, neboť evropské koordinační mechanismy jsou formovány především dlouhodobými postoji politických stran k evropské integraci a jejich komunikací. Práce také poukazuje na komplementaritu neoinstitucionálních přístupů a jejich využití v budoucnu.

Abstract:

This thesis is composed as a compilation of four articles mapping the development of the coordination agenda in the Central and Eastern European Member States of the EU. Each article is based on a different approach within neo-institutional theory with the goal to determine which one most convincingly explains the development of and changes in coordination. Of the approaches examined, the best explanatory power has been demonstrated by discursive institutionalism, as the European coordination mechanisms are mainly shaped by the long-term stances of political parties to European integration and the com-munication of their views. The analysis demonstrates the complemen-tarily of neo-institutional approaches and uses for the theory in further research.
