Estimation of noise properties in dynamic models

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá odhadem vlastností šumů ve stavových modelech. Práce prezentuje čtyři základní přístupy k odhadu vlastností šumů, přičemž zvláštní pozornost je věnována korelačním metodám. Jsou zde uvedeny způsoby výpočtu vlastností šumů hlavními představiteli korelačních metod a je poukázáno na jejich společné vlastnosti a slabé stránky. Na základě zjištěných nedostatků korelačních metod jsou definovány samotné cíle disertační práce. Následně je detailně představena nová korelační metoda, která řeší cíle disertační práce. Metoda poskytuje odhad necentrálních a centrálních momentů pro časově nezávislé i závislé šumy. Také je dokázáno, že tyto odhady jsou nestranné a konzistentní. Metoda je též využita k získání dalšího popisu šumů, jakým je ověření předpokladu gaussovosti šumů, či odhad parametrů popisujících časově závislé šumy nebo hustotu pravděpodobnosti šumů. V závěru disertační práce jsou ilustrovány schopnosti nové korelační metody. Metoda je porovnána s významnými představiteli korelačních metod a také jsou ilustrovány unikátní schopnosti metody samotné. V neposlední řadě je ilustrováno využití nové korelační metody v oblasti globálních navigačních satelitních systémů, kde je kromě simulovaných dat využito i reálných měření pseudovzdáleností.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the estimation of noise properties of the state space model. The thesis presents four basic approaches to the estimation of~the~noise properties, where the special attention is devoted to the estimation using correlation methods. Also, the detailed ways of calculating the~noise properties by the main representatives of the state-of-the-art correlation methods are shown here. Their common qualities and weaknesses are pointed out. The~goals of the thesis are defined on the basis of the established properties of~the~correlation methods. Subsequently, a new correlation method is presented in detail to address the thesis goals. The method provides estimation of non-central and central moments for both time-independent and time-dependent noises. It is also shown that these estimates are unbiased and consistent. The method is also used to obtain a further description of noises such as Gaussianity of noises, or estimating parameters describing time-dependent noises or the probability density of noises. Finally, the thesis illustrates the capabilities of the new correlation method. The method is compared with prominent representatives of correlation methods and the unique capabilities of the method itself are illustrated. Finally, the application of the new correlation method in the field of global navigation satellite systems is illustrated where the real pseudorange measurements are used in addition to simulated data.
