Tato diplomová práce zkoumá Tolkienovu trilogii Pán prstenů z hlediska archetypů a archetypální kritiky. Využívá k tomu hlavně Jungovu sbírku Archetypy a nevědomí a Campbellovu knihu Tisíc tváří hrdiny. Práce se zaměří také na vliv ruského formalismu a konkrétně Proppovy teorie vyprávění představené v jeho knize Morfologie pohádky. This master thesis analyses J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy trilogy The Lord of the Rings from the perspective of Archetypes and Archetypal theory with use of Jung´s The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious and Campbell´s The Hero with a Thousand Faces.
