Energy Storage System for Railway Vehicles Energy Efficiency Improvement

Abstract:

Tato disertační práce se zabývá vhodnou strategií řízení akumulačního systému pro zvýšení energetické účinnosti vozidel. V práci je popsán simulační model tramvaje jedoucí na konkrétní lince č. 4 v Plzni. Simulační model byl vytvořen za pomoci naměřených reálných dat, která byla statisticky analyzována. Výsledky analýzy tvořily základ pro pravděpodobnostní simulační model. Dalšími vstupy modelu jsou pak parametry tramvaje a tramvajové trati. Simulační model se skládá celkem z pěti hlavních bloků. V bloku Trakční mechanika jsou vypočteny mechanické veličiny vozidla. Blok Řidič napodobuje chování skutečného řidiče. Blok Výkony a energie zajišťuje správné rozdělení výkonů. Blok Akumulační systém vyhodnocuje stav nabití superkondenzátoru a jeho teplotu. Posledním blokem je Power management, který je důležitou částí práce. V bloku Power management je řešeno několik různých strategií řízení akumulačního systému. Tyto strategie jsou vzájemně porovnány podle výsledné spotřeby energie zohledňující i ztráty v troleji. Metodika využívající pravděpodobnostní simulační model, která je uvedena v této práci, slouží pro nalezení optimální velikosti superkondenzátoru a vhodné strategie řízení akumulačního systému pro zvýšení energetické účinnosti. Tato metodika může být použita i pro jiné linky.

Abstract:

This dissertation thesis deals with the suitable power management strategies of the energy storage system in vehicles with enhanced energy efficiency. The thesis describes the tram simulation model running on the line no. 4 in Pilsen. The simulation model was created by using the real measured data, which were statistically analyzed. Results of the analysis formed the basis of the probabilistic simulation model. Other model inputs are tram vehicle parameters and tram line parameters. The simulation model consists of five main blocks. Mechanical quantities are calculated in the block Traction Mechanics. Block Driver substitutes behavior of the real tram driver. Block Power and Energy ensures the proper distribution of the power. Block Energy Storage System evaluates the supercapacitor state of charge and temperature. The last block is Power Management, which is the important part of the thesis. Several different power management strategies for the energy storage system are handled in the block Power management. These strategies are compared with each other according to final energy consumption taking into account overhead line losses. The methodology uses probabilistic simulation model, which is presented in this thesis, can be used to find the optimal size of the supercapacitor and the appropriate power management strategy of the energy storage system for other tram lines.
