Availability care independent midwives working in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

ANOTACE Předkládaná bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou péče samostatně působících porodních asistentek a její dostupností ženám v České republice. Cílem práce bylo získat ucelený přehled o aktuální situaci porodní asistence v České republice, resp. přehled, kolik samostatných porodních asistentek v České republice působí, jaký rozsah služeb nabízejí, za jakých podmínek a jaké faktory nabídku jejich služeb ovlivňují. Dotazníkovou metodou bylo osloveno 109 porodních asistentek a 188 žen z České republiky. Výsledkem bylo zjištění, že zdravotní politika naší země s porodní asistentkou, která poskytuje své služby samostatně, vlastně nepočítá. Od toho se odvíjí nedostatečná informovanost žen o plném rozsahu kompetencí porodních asistentek, financování péče (s výjimkou návštěvní služby) není součástí systému zdravotního pojištění. Kompetence porodní asistentky jsou na jedné straně vymezené zákonem, avšak na druhé straně jiný zákon znemožňuje jejich výkon v plném rozsahu, protože dodržení stanovených podmínek je pro všechny porodní asistentky nesplnitelné. Práce tedy poukázala na potřebu legislativních úprav, které by zajišťovaly maximální bezpečnost péče porodních asistentek a zároveň by umožnily tuto profesi nezávisle vykonávat tak, aby byla respektována práva rodiček na volbu místa, způsobu porodu a poskytovatele péče.

Abstract:

ANNOTATION This bachelor work deals with the problems of care of independent labour assistants and its availability for the women in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work was to get a compact overview of the current situation of labour assistance in the Czech Republic, in fact an overview how many independent labour assistants there are working in the Czech Republic, what range of services they offer, what conditions and factors influence their work. 109 labour assistants and 188 women from the Czech Republic were addressed with a questionnaire. The result was finding that healthcare system of our country does not actually count with a labour assistant who works independently. This leads to the lack of awareness of women about the full range of competences of the labour assistants, also the financing of the care (except the visiting services) is not a part of health insurance system. On one hand the competences of labour assistants are defined by the law, on the other hand a different law disables them to carry out their work to a full extent, because they are unable to meet all the given conditions. This work thus pointed out the need of legislative changes which would provide maximum safety of the care of labour assistants and at the same time enable them to do their job independently in a way so that the rights of women in labour to choose the place, the way of the labour and the care provider are respected.
