NFW density profile and shell galaxies

Anotácia:

Ve většině simulací slupkových galaxií bylo v minulosti užíváno Plummerova hustotního profilu. Z pohledu dnešní astrofyziky má však tento profil několik nedostatků včetně neuvažování takzvané temné hmoty. V této práci porovnáváme výsledky simulace vzniku slupkových galaxií získané s Plummerovým hustotním profilem a kosmologicky motivovaným NFW hustotním profilem. Výsledky prokázaly rozdíl v rozložení částic jednotlivých slupek vzhledem k úhlu od osy srážky. Tento rozdíl by měl být pozorovatelný a měl by podpořit správnost jednoho z hustotních profilů.

Abstract:

Most simulations of the shell galaxies that were done in the past used Plummer’s density profile. From a contemporary perspective it has, however, several shortcomings, including the fact that it doesn’t consider dark matter. In this paper we compare the results from simulations of the formation of shell galaxies using both the Plummer density profile and the cosmologically motivated NFW density profile. The results demonstrated a difference in the particle distribution of each shell relative to their angle from the axis of collision. This difference should be observable and should support the accuracy of one of the density profiles.
