The Town of Krupka in the Years 1945-1948

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje dějinám města Krupka, nalézajícího se na úpatí Krušných hor, v období tzv. třetí Československé republiky. Práce zahrnuje nejen stěžejní historické momenty let 1945-1948, tedy osvobození města Rudou armádou, odsun německého obyvatelstva, volby v roce 1946 a konečně události v únoru 1948, ale zabývá se i obnovou správy a veřejného života ve městě. Snaží se tak přiblížit poválečnou dobu v Československu na konkrétním příkladu jednoho pohraničního města v severozápadních Čechách.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the history of the town of Krupka, situated at the foot of the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory), in the period called The Third Czechoslovak Republic. The work is concerned with not only crucial historical moments of the years 1945 1948, i.e. liberation by the Red Army, expulsion of the German population, elections in 1946 and finally, the events of February 1948, but it also focuses on the renewal process of the local administration and public life in the town. The aim of the thesis is thus to depict the post-war period in Czechoslovakia by providing the specific example of a border town in north-western Bohemia.
