Segmental vergence eye movements control

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis theoretically describes the issue of segmental control of vergence movements. The introductory chapters deal with the motor component of binocular vision and the distribution of eye movements. Subsequently, it characterizes vergence movements, their distribution and neural control. An extensive chapter is devoted to latency involving selected studies that investigate latency under both physiological and pathological conditions. It also describes the initial and subsequent components of the vergence response. The conclusion of this work is devoted to the dual interaction between accommodation and vergence and its contribution to vergence management.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca teoreticky popisuje problematiku segmentového riadenia vergenčných pohybov. Úvodné kapitoly pojednávajú o motorickej zložke binokulárneho videnia a rozdelení očných pohybov. Následne charakterizuje vergenčné pohyby, ich rozdelenie a neurálne riadenie. Rozsiahla kapitola je venovaná latencii zahŕňajúca vybrané štúdie, ktoré skúmali latenciu za fyziologických aj patologických podmienok. Ďalej popisuje iniciálnu a následnú fázu vergenčnej odpovede. Záver práce je venovaný duálnej interakcii medzi akomodáciou a vergenciou a jej prínosu v riadení vergencií.
