Synthesis and catalytic application of chiral 2,2´-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)-bis(imidazolin-4-ones)

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce popisuje syntézu a katalytické využití chirálních 2,2´-(pyridin-2,6-diyl)bis(imidazolidin-4-onů). Ty byly připraveny kysele katalyzovanou kondenzací karbonylových sloučenin pyridinu, a to pyridin-2,6-dikarbaldehydu a 2,6-diacetylpyridinu, s (S)-2-amino-2,3-dimethylbutanamidem nebo (S)-2-amino-3,3-dimethylbutanamidem. Jednotlivé diastereoizomerní formy produktů byly separovány pomocí sloupcové chromatografie a charakterizovány pomocí dostupných analytických metod. Posléze byly aplikovány, ve formě komplexů s kovy, jako enantioselektivní katalyzátory asymetrických syntéz. Bylo zjištěno, že komplexy těchto ligandů s Cu(OAc)2 jsou vysoce účinnými katalyzátory asymetrické Henryho reakce aromatických aldehydů s nitromethanem. Dále byly testovány komplexy těchto 2,2´-(pyridin-2,6-diyl)bis(imidazolidin-4-onů) s CoCl2?6H2O při asymetrické Michaelově adici dimethyl-malonátu na -nitrostyren.

Abstract:

This thesis describes the synthesis and catalytic use of chiral 2,2´-(pyridine-2,6-diyl)bis(imidazolidin-4-ones). These compounds were prepared by acid-catalyzed condensation of pyridine carbonyl derivatives, i.e. pyridine-2,6-dicarbaldehyde and 2,6-diacetylpyridine, together with (S)-2-amino-2,3-dimethylbutanamide or (S)-2-amino-3,3-dimethylbutanamide. Individual diastereoisomeric forms of the target compounds were separated by column chromatography and characterized by available analytical methods. Subsequently, these compounds were applied in combination with metal salts as enantioselective catalysts in selected asymmetric syntheses. Complexes of these ligands with Cu(OAc)2 were found to be highly efficient catalysts for the asymmetric Henry reaction of aromatic aldehydes with nitromethane. Furthermore, complexes of these 2,2´-(pyridin-2,6-diyl)bis(imidazolidin-4-ones) with CoCl2?6H2O were tested during the asymmetric Michael addition of dimethyl malonate to -nitrostyrene.
