Scenography of Traditional Chinese Theatre

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá scénografií tradičního čínského divadla. Důraz je kladen na tradiční divadlo provozované ve dvacátém století. Pro srovnání bje uvedena i klasická forma z doby vzniku tohoto typu divadla především v období dynastie Yuan (1271 - 1368 ). V úvodu je obecně charakterizováno zvolené téma a uvedeno, jakým způsobem se jím práce zabývá. Je zde vysvětleno chápání pojmu scénografie, který je pro tuto práci stěžejní, a dalších relevantních termínů. Na konci úvodu je uvedena kritika zdrojů, ze kterých bylo při tvorbě práce čerpáno. V první části práce je popsán divadelní prostor a jeho postupný historický vývoj. Následně jsou typy dramatických postav rozděleny do jednotlivých kategorií. Třetí části práce se snaží charakterizovat gesta prováděná na jevišti, postihnout jejich základní principy a vysvětlit, jak participují na vytváření scénografické složky. Gestům se tato diplomová práce věnuje jak ve formě samostatných úkonů, které jsou v tradičním čínském divadle velmi propracované, tak i v jejich užití ve spojení s různými rekvizitami. Práce má za snahu charakterizovat způsob užívání gest v kontextu celkového hereckého projevu. Dále se práce bude podrobně věnovat typům kostýmů. Zaměří se na to, co vyjadřují jako samostatné celky, ale také bude popisovat jejich jednotlivé části, které mají rovněž svá specifika, díky kterým lze částečně charakterizovat postavu, kterou daný herec ztvárňuje. V následující části práce diplomantka vysvětlí, co vyjadřují jednotlivé barvy a typy make-upu a jak se líčení dělí podle toho, jaký typ osoby má vyjádřit. Každý typ líčení je typický pouze pro konkrétní typ postavy, proto jsou na typy líčení utvořeny vzorníky, kterým je věnována určitá pasáž této kapitoly. Kromě líčení existují v čínském divadle i dřevěné masky, ty se však vyskytují jen v obřadním divadle a lidových tanečních formách, proto se jimi tato práce podrobněji nezabývá. Další část práce se věnuje hudbě, avšak jen v nejvíce relevantních souvislostech. Předmětem výzkumu jsou především zvuky, které lze díky jejich významu řadit ke scénografii. Na závěr jsou zmíněny jevištní kulisy a upřesněn význam a četnost rekvizit, které nejsou na jevišti umístěny po celou dobu představení, ale jsou přineseny jevištními asistenty právě v tu chvíli, kdy přijde čas jejich užití, pak jsou zase odneseny.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with scenography of traditional Chinese theatre. Its emphasis is placed on traditional theatre in the twentieth century. For comparison, there is also presented a classical form of this type of theatre especially from the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368) era. In the introduction, the thesis topic is specified and its form indicated. This part also attempts to explain understanding of the concept of stage design, which is crucial for this work, as well as other relevant terms. The end of the introduction includes critical analysis of the sources, from which the thesis draws. The first part of the thesis describes theatrical space and its historici development. In the next part types of dramatic characters are divided into different categories. The third part will describe gestures performed on stage, analyse their basic principles and explain how they contribute to creation of stage design components. The gestures are handled both as separate acts, which are very sophisticated in traditional Chinese theatre, and in connection with the use of various props. This thesis tries to characterize the use of different gesture types in the context of overall acting expression. The next part of the thesis deals with types of costumes in detail. It is focused on what they represent as separate units, but also describe their individual parts, which have their own characteristics too and which are specific for each character actors portray. In the following part, the colours and types of make-up, what they represent and how the make-up is dependent on the type of a person it should express is explained. Each type of make-up is typical only for a specific type of a character, there even exist make-up types guidelines, which is also given attention in this part. Except for the make-up, there are wooden masks used in the traditional theatre, but these occur only in the ceremonial theatre and folk dance forms, therefore they are not considered in this work in greater detail. The next part is devoted to music, however, it only provides the most relevant context. The thesis deals mainly with sounds that have their importance for the stage design. The thesis also discuss and clarify stage scenery and abundance of important properties that are not placed on the stage throughout the performance. Those are brought by stage assistants at the very moment when the time comes to their use and then taken away again.
