The ancient letter- the official correspondence of Cicero, Pliny the Younger and Symmachus

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o římské epistolografii, zaměřuje se na její pravidla, na typy dopisů atd. Ústředním tématem této práce je úřední korespondence tří autorů, Cicerona, Plinia Mladšího a Symmacha. Tato práce se snaží dokázat, že autoři byli při psaní dopisů ovlivněni dobou, ve které žili. První kapitola se věnuje pravidlům, která má by měla být při psaní dopisu dodržována, druhá kapitola pak typům listů, které se dělí podle svého obsahu nebo účelu. Předmětem třetí kapitoly jsou názory antických autorů o epistolografii, o jejich pravidlech atd. Ve čtvrté kapitoly jsou krátce popsány osudy těchto autorů a poté ty sbírky dopisů, které obsahují úřední korespondenci. V páté kapitole jsou srovnány žádací a děkovací dopisy těchto autorů, a to především výrazy, které jsou při vyjádření žádosti nebo díků použity. Poslední kapitola je věnována době, ve které jednotliví autoři žili.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with a roman epistolography, embarking on her rules, types of letter, etc. The basic subject of this work is the official correspondence of three authors, of Cicero, Pliny Younger and Symmachus. This diploma thesis try to prove that the authors were by writing influenced by period, in which they lived. The first chapter is concerned with rules of letter, the second chapter with types of letter, which is divided by their content or function. The subject of the third chapter is opinions of ancient authors about epistolography, about her rules etc. In the fourth chapter is described their life and collections of letters, which include official letters. In the fifth chapter are compared request and thanking letters of these authors, especially the words, by which author requests or thanks. The last is engaged in the period, in which these authors lived.
