Analysis of the benefit of deploying business data governance

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou přínosu nasazení nové data governance pro jednu z největších bank na českém trhu. Práce je zpracována pro dvě bankovní oblasti, jimiž jsou nezajištěné úvěry a pojištění. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat, navrhnout a poukázat přínos nově navržené data governance oproti té aktuální. K dosažení stanoveného cíle byla nejdříve provedena rešerše literatury, která pokrývala hlavní oblasti celého návrhu data governance. Následně byly vymezeny metody, jež byly použity pro tuto práci. Dále byla charakterizována samotná bankovní instituce pro zasazení do kontextu celé práce. Poté byla provedena podrobná analýza současné data governance pro obě bankovní oblasti a v rámci stejné kapitoly byla zhodnocena dle data governance maturity modelu. Po analýze současného stavu byla navržena nová data governance dle požadavků vysokého managementu banky a zároveň i řadových zaměstnanců. V rámci návrhu nové data governance byl aplikován koncept datových produktů. Následně byly stanoveny metriky pro data governance sledující úspěšnost nově navržené data governance. Poté následuje kapitola zhodnocení celého návrhu vlastníkem datové domény a platformy v příslušné bance.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of the benefits of the implementation of new data governance for one of the largest banks on the Czech market. The thesis is prepared for two banking areas, which are unsecured loans and insurance. The main objective of the thesis is to analyze, design and show the benefits of the newly proposed data governance compared to the current one. To achieve the stated objective, first a literature search was conducted covering the main areas of the overall data governance proposal. Subsequently, the methods that were used for this thesis was defined. Next, the banking institution itself was characterized to put it in the context of the whole thesis. After that, a detailed analysis of the current data governance for both banking areas was conducted and evaluated under the same chapter according to the data governance maturity model. After analyzing the current state, new data governance was proposed as per the requirements of the senior management of the bank and also the rank-and-file employees. The concept of data as a product was applied in the design of new data governance. Subsequently, data governance metrics were established to monitor the success of the newly designed data governance. This is followed by a section on the evaluation of the overall design by the data domain and platform owner in the respective bank.
