Abstract:

Předmětem této diplomové práce je zkoumání kauzálního vztahu mezi chudobou a subjektivním vnímáním zdravotního stavu. Data byla získána pomocí survey experimentu, který měl za cíl v respondentech vyvolat finanční obavy. K regresní analýze dat byl použit OLS a OLM model. V rámci analýzy je dospěno k rozporuplným závěrům, tedy použité modely naznačují, že chudí lidé po intervenci hodnotili své zdraví hůře než jejich protějšky v kontrolní skupině, ovšem tyto výsledky jsou statisticky významné pouze u vysvětlované proměnné zachycující obecné zdraví.

Abstract:

This thesis aims to investigate the causal relationship between poverty and subjective perceptions of health status. Data were collected using a survey experiment designed to elicit financial concerns in the respondents. OLS and OLM model was used for regression analysis of the data. The analysis reaches contradictory conclusions, i.e. the models used suggest that poor people rated their health worse than their counterparts in the control group after the intervention. However, these results are statistically significant only for the explanatory variable capturing general health.
