The difference between power characteristics of squash players and the general population

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce bylo porovnání hodnot síly stisku ruky, dominantní a nedominantní horní končetiny u výkonnostních hráčů a hráček squashe a běžné populace v České republice ve věkové kategorii 18 -29 let. Měření se zúčastnilo celkem 53 probandů ve věku 16 – 35 let, kteří se v soutěžním ročníku 2013/2014 umístili do 50. místa v žebříčku ČASQ (Česká asociace squashe). Do cílové skupiny 18 – 29 let spadalo 36 osob, z čehož bylo 18 mužů a 18 žen. Hráči absolvovali měření ruční dynamometrie na elektronickém dynamometru MIE Medical Research v průběhu listopad – prosinec 2014 na extralize družstev mužů a A turnaji žen. Z výsledků vyplývají očekávané výstupy. Rozdíl mezi dominantní a nedominantní rukou u squashistů, mužů i žen, je větší než u běžné populace. Překvapivým zjištěním bylo měření maximální síly u mužů běžné populace, kdy hodnota maximální síly byla větší právě u mužů obecné populace. Ženy squashistky měly naměřený větší maximální stisk.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to compare the values of hand grip strength, dominant and non-dominant upper limb of male and female top squash players and the general population in the Czech Republic in the age group 18 -29 years. The measurement was attended by 53 participants between 16-35 years old who were in the competition of the year 2013/2014 placed to 50th place in the ranking ČASQ (Czech Association of squash). To the target group of 18-29 years fell to 36 people, of which 18 were men and 18 women. Players passed hand dynamometry measurements on an electronic dynamometer MIE Medical Research during November-December 2014 on the tournament of league men teams and the A women tournament. The results follow the expected outcomes. The difference between dominant and non-dominant hand for squash players, both men and women, is higher than among the general population. A surprising finding was the measurement of maximum strength for men of the general population. The value of maximum force was greater in men of the general. Female squash players were measured by larger maximum grip.
