Restoration of a limestone statue of saint John of Nepomuk from the mill area in the village of Bylany near Kutná Hora

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá komplexním restaurátorským zásahem provedeným na soše svatého Jana Nepomuckého. Dílo je vytvořeno z kutnohorského vápence a je součástí památkově chráněného vodního mlýna zvaného Feldekův, nacházejícího se v obci Bylany u Kutné Hory. Práce se skládá z průzkumu, který se zaměřuje na posouzení stavu díla před restaurováním, obsahuje umělecko-historický, restaurátorský a chemicko-technologický průzkum. Na základě výsledků průzkumu je stanovena koncepce restaurování. Dále jsou v práci zařazeny zkoušky materiálů a technologií, a jsou popsány provedené restaurátorské úkony, a použité materiály a technologie. Práce je doplněna grafickou a fotografickou dokumentací.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with a complex restoration intervention carried out on the statue of saint John of Nepomuk, made out of limestone from Kutná Hora. The statue is part of the listed water mill called Feldek's mill, located in the village of Bylany near Kutná Hora. The thesis consists of a survey, which focuses on assessing the condition of the statue before restoration, and includes an art-historical, restoration and chemical-technological survey. Based on the results of the survey, a restoration concept is determined. Thesis also includes tests of materials and technologies, and describes the restoration work carried out, and the materials and technologies used, and graphic and photographic documentation.
