Women’s Powers and Men’s Weaknesses: Power Structure in John Fowles' The French Lieutenant’s Woman

Women’s Powers and Men’s Weaknesses: Power Structure in John Fowles' The French Lieutenant’s Woman
Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the power structure of John Fowles' The French Lieutenant's woman, especially the relationship between Sarah Woodruff and Charles Smithson. It is claimed that the indisputable and absolute dominance of Sarah is in fact an output of Fowles' attempt to remind the reader of the fact that literary works do not "exist", they are created.
