Evaluation of Methods for Detection and Analysis of High-Frequency Oscillations in Intracranial EEG Records in Patients with Pharmacoresistant Epilepsy

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá popisem metod detekce, vyhodnocení a zpracování vysokofrekvenčních oscilací v intrakraniálním EEG záznamu. Zahrnuje principy výběru vhodných úseků signálu, časově-frekvenční analýzu, detekční metody založené na principu detekce hrotů, detekční metody vycházející z analýzy spektrální hustoty výkonu a analýzu vazeb mezi strukturami mozku. Mimo těchto metod obsahuje i úvod do problematiky intrakraniálního elektroencefalografického vyšetřování pacientů s farmakorezistentní epilepsií a popis zásadních odlišností mezi intrakraniálním a skalpovým EEG včetně výskytu artefaktů v obou způsobech měření. Závěrečná kapitola je věnována diskuzi nad záludnostmi zpracovávaného signálu.

Abstract:

This work describes existing methods of detection, evaluating and processing of high-frequency oscillations in the intracranial EEG recordings. It involves principles of suitable segments selection, time-frequency analysis, detection methods based on the principle of spike detection, detection methods based on analysis of power spectral density and analysis of relationships of brain structures. Except these methods the work includes an introduction to the intracranial electroencephalographic examination of patients suffering from intractable epilepsy. There are mentioned crucial differences between intracranial and scalp EEG including artifacts occurrence in both ways of measurement. The difficulties of processed signal are discussed in the last chapter.
