The application of empowerment theory at OASIS, Inc.

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je představit, jak pracují s konceptem empowermentu (zplnomocnění) v organizaci OASIS, Inc. u obětí domácího násilí v rámci práce se skupinou. Práce je členěna do čtyř kapitol, přičemž první kapitola popisuje samotný koncept empowermentu, a o co tento koncept usiluje. Další kapitolou je kapitola popisující organizaci OASIS, Inc., její poslání, cíle, cílovou skupinu a na čem organizace staví. Poté je věnována pozornost problematice domácího násilí s důrazem na její charakteristiky a cyklus, s kterým dále pracuje organizace OASIS, Inc. Poslední kapitola představuje práci se skupinou a její terapeutická rozměr. Ten je poměrně využívaným v americkém kontextu při práci s podpůrnými skupinami. Závěrem se práce snaží ilustrovat jednotlivé případy zmocnění, ke kterým v organizaci docházelo v rámci podpůrných skupin (skupinové práce).

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to imagine how they work with the empowerment concept in OASIS, Inc. with the victims of domestic violence as part of working with the group. The thesis (work) is divided into four chapters; the first chapter is describing the concept of empowerment itself, and what this concept seeks. The next chapter is a chapter describing OASIS, Inc.'s mission, goals, target group, and on what theory is the organization build on. Afterwards, the attention is dedicated to the issue of domestic violence, with emphasis on its characteristics and cycle, with which OASIS, Inc. works further. The last chapter presents the work with the group and its therapeutic dimension. This is quite often used in the American context when working with support groups. In conclusion, the thesis attempts to illustrate the individual cases of empowerment in the organization that took place within the support groups (group work).
