Drinking water in lands of interest in Latin America

Abstract:

Diplomová práce popisuje současný stav problematiky nedostatku pitné vody v Latinské Americe, se zaměřením na dva reprezentativní státy, kterými jsou Peru a Mexiko. První část práce vymezuje základní pojmy v oblasti vody a vodních zdrojů, popisuje orgány zabývající se managementem pitné vody a představuje mezinárodní konference a úmluvy týkající se pitné vody. Druhá část práce se věnuje popisu regionu Latinské Ameriky, s důrazem na relevantní ukazatele ohledně dostupnosti a kvality pitné vody v Peru a v Mexiku. Pro posouzení přístupu ke zdrojům pitné vody v jednotlivých regionech obou zemí je využito statistické metody konvergence. Vývoj kvality pitné vody je posouzen na základě bazických a řetězových indexů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis examines challenges and problems with drinking water supply in Latin America, focusing on two representative states Peru and Mexico in particular. The first part of the following text discusses basic concepts in the field of water supply and water resource management. Furthermore, describes authorities and institutions dealing with drinking water and presents significant international conferences and conventions on drinking water. The second part of the thesis geographically describes Latin American region, with an emphasis on relevant indicators on the availability and quality of drinking water. Nonetheless, the thesis analyses and compares, the statistical methods of convergence are used, the availability and access to drinking water resources in Peru and Mexico. Moreover, the development of drinking water quality is assessed on the basis and chain indexes.
