Assessing the Suitability of Using Low-cost Cameras in the Commercial Security Industry

Abstract:

Téma diplomové práce je zaměřeno na problematiku správné funkčnosti nízkonákladových IP kamer z pohledu průmyslu komerční bezpečnosti. Cílem práce je ověření funkčních vlastností vybraných IP kamer zejména asijského původu a jejich následné vyhodnocení dle předem zvolených testovacích metod a postupů. Kamery byly podrobeny měření velikosti záznamů s použitím statické scény. Dále bylo testováno, do jaké míry je složité kameru oži-vit za použití stolního počítače. Mezi měřeními byl i test toho, jak kamera reaguje na dva velmi kontrastně osvětlené předměty v jedné scéně nebo měření prodlevy, za jak dlouho se kamera přepne z nočního režimu na denní a naopak, které poukazuje na dobu, během které kamera nezobrazuje obraz. Dále byly kamery testovány z pohledu elektromagnetických vlastností. Tato měření probíhala v GTEM cele Frankonia 250, která je součástí výzkumné-ho centra CEBIA-Tech ve Zlíně.

Abstract:

The topic of this diploma thesis is the correct functionality of low-cost IP cameras from the point of view of the commercial safety industry. The aim is to verify the functional proper-ties of selected cameras, predominantly of Asian origin, and the subsequent evaluation by means of testing methods and procedures chosen in advance. Using a static scene, the de-vices were tested for the size of the recordings. The complexity of operating the cameras by means of a PC and the reaction of the cameras to two subjects with strongly contrasting lighting in a single scene were tested. Among the measurements also was the assessment of the time of switching from night to day operation mode and vice versa, which indicates the time during which the camera shows no image. The cameras' electromagnetic properties were tested using the Frankonia 250 GTEM-cell, which is part of the CEBIA-Tech research center in Zlín.
