Abstract:

The aim of the thesis was to analyze academic book reviews in order to establish the common features of a book review as a genre. In the theoretical part of the thesis, relevant literature was studied and the theoretical basis for analyzing book reviews as a genre was set. In the practical part of the thesis, the corpus created for this thesis was studied and the common lexico-grammatical features, rhetorical structure of the book reviews, and the use of evaluative statements in the book reviews were identified and carefully noted in order to create a concise picture of the book review genre. The analyses performed in the practical part of the thesis confirmed the theoretical concepts established in the theoretical part with just a few minor differences concerning the expressions used in negative evaluative statements and the Steps identified in the rhetorical structure of the review.

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo analyzovat akademickou knižní recenzi a určit společné znaky pro žánr knižní recenze. V teoretické části byla provedena rešerše relevantní literatury a byla formulována teoretická východiska pro žánrovou analýzu knižní recenze. V praktické části diplomové práce byl prostudován korpus, který byl sestaven pro účely této práce. Byly identifikovány společné lexikálně-gramatické znaky a rétorická struktura knižní recenze a užití hodnotících prostředků v knižní recenzi tak, aby mohl být sestaven zřetelný obraz žánru knižní recenze. Analýzy provedené v praktické části potvrdily teoretická východiska z části teoretické s výjimkou několika drobných aspektů týkajících se hodnotících prostředků a kroků identifikovaných v rétorické struktuře knižní recenze.
