The Civil War and post-war according to the concept of historical memory employed in selected Spanish novels.

Abstract:

The main subject matter of this thesis rests on an analysis of historical memory which is the cornerstone of many scientific disciplines, including literature. It aims to ascertain how historical memory is dealt with in current Spanish novels. The introductory part contains a detailed discourse on the evolution of historical memory as well as contributions of the renowned experts on the matter. Besides the reflextion upon the boom in memory as such, next part follows up with selected principles and strategies, be them the concept of forgetting or collective consciousness, which are subsequently applied to the Spanish Civil War and post-war. Then there are the individual chapters dealing with historical memory employed in literature, exploring the differences between literature of memory and historical novel and the concept of trauma. The practical part consists of two analyses of the authors who form a part of the so-called "third generation".

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem této práce je rozbor termínu historické paměti jako pojmu procházejícím napříč vědními obory, včetně literárního. Za cíl si klade zjistit, jakým způsobem se s historickou pamětí pracuje v současných španělských románech. V úvodní části je zmapován vývoj uvedeného fenoménu včetně přínosu klíčových odborníků této problematiky. Pokračuje vybrannými principy a strategiemi, kterými jsou například koncept zapomínání nebo kolektivního vědomí s aplikací na občanskou válku a poválečné období, či reflexe nad rozmachem paměti jako takové. Samostatné kapitoly se zaměřují na historickou paměť v literatuře, vymezení rozdílů mezi paměťovou literaturou a historickým románem, či na koncept traumatu. Poslední praktická část práce obsahuje analýzy dvou děl autorů patřících do třetí generace.
