Czech compatriots in South America

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje tématice českých krajanů žijících v Jižní Americe. Je zde shrnuta historie vystěhovalectví z českých zemí na tento kontinent, příčiny odchodu našich krajanů a jejich začátky a život ve všech státech Jižní Ameriky. Zmapovány jsou zde také krajanské spolky, které fungují po celém území Jižní Ameriky. Do práce jsou mimo jiné zahrnuty poznatky z měsíčního pobytu v krajanském prostředí v Paraguayi a Argentině v roce 2009 a tříměsíčního pobytu mezi krajany na některých místech Brazílie, Uruguaye, Argentiny, Paraguaye a Bolívie na podzim roku 2015. Velmi sledovaným tématem tohoto výzkumu jsou potomci vystěhovalců, tedy další krajanské generace a jejich vztah k naší vlasti, české kultuře a českému jazyku a problematika udržení české identity mezi nimi. V neposlední řadě je zde rozebrán přístup České republiky k této diaspoře, zvláště pak ze strany exekutivy.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the topic of Czech compatriots living in South America. There is a summarized history of emigration from the Czech lands to this continent, the root causes of our compatriots and their beginnings and life in all countries of South America. There are also mapped compatriate organizations, which operate throughout the territory of South America. Thesis includ findings from month stay in compatriot environment in Paraguay and Argentina in 2009 and a three-month stay among compatriates in certain areas of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia in the fall of 2015. Very pursued is theme of this research are also descendants emigrants, another compatriate generation and their relationship to our homeland, Czech culture and Czech language and the issue of maintaining the Czech identity among them. Last but not least, there is debated access of Czech Republic to the diaspora, especially by the executive side.
