Realisation of Syllable Final Voiceless Stops

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on different realisations of English voiceless stops occurring at the end of a syllable. The aim is to explore the individual realisations, i.e. allophones, in different sound environment and also to compare the frequency of the single allophones in the same position. The theoretical part summarises phonological features of voiceless stops. The practical part explores putting the theoretical facts into practice and also the analysis of recordings of an authentic speech is carried out. Finally, the results of the analysis are compared with the theoretical statements

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o různých realizacích anglických neznělých okluzív nacházejících se na konci slabiky. Cílem práce je prozkoumat tyto konkrétní realizace, tzv. alofony, v různém hláskovém okolí a zároveň porovnat frekvenci výskytu jednotlivých alofonů v téže pozici. V části teoretické jsou stručně shrnuty poznatky o neznělých okluzívách, v analytické části je zkoumáno uplatnění teoretických faktů v konkrétních audio-nahrávkách. Nakonec je provedeno porovnání výsledků analýzy a teorie
