European Monetary Union – the current developments, future trends

Abstract:

In the first part of the thesis it brings the reader an overview of important events and moments especially in the history of Europe which were necessary and formed a modern Europe, the European Union and the European Monetary Union. It provides the reader a chronological overview of these moments in a proportion that the author of this work considered as adequate for the purposes of this work and for achieving its goals. The second part brings the reader a schematic overview of conditions which must be fulfilled by the countries that are about to enter the European Monetary Union. In this part the reader can also find and compare the success of the implementation of the Maastricht criteria by two Slavic nations and their countries that have already established the euro in the past and now it is their national currency. The last part is focused on the current developments and the future of the European Monetary Union. It presents the views of some world economists about the future of the European Monetary Union by the system “couple views for all“, pointing out its weaknesses and offers suggestions for their solution or mitigation.

Abstract:

Táto práca prináša v jej prvej časti čitateľovi prehľad významných udalostí a momentov hlavne v histórií Európy, ktoré boli nevyhnutné a formovali vznik modernej Európy, Európskej únie a následne aj Európskej menovej únie. Čitateľovi prináša chronologický prehľad týchto momentov v pomere, ktorý autor práce považoval za primeraný pre účely tejto práce a dosiahnutie jeho zámeru. Druhá časť práce približuje čitateľovi schematický prehľad vstupných podmienok, ktoré musia v súčasnosti krajiny uchádzajúce sa o členstvo v Európskej menovej únií splniť. V tejto časti práce sa tiež čitateľ môže oboznámiť a môže porovnať úspešnosť plnenia Maastrichtských kritérií dvomi slovanskými národmi a ich krajinami, ktoré už euro v minulosti zaviedli a v súčasnosti je ich národnou menou. Posledná časť práce je zameraná na aktuálny vývoj a budúcnosť Európskej menovej únie. Snaží sa priniesť čitateľovi prierez názormi svetových ekonómov o budúcnosti Európskej menovej únie systémom „pár názorov za všetky“ s poukázaním na jej úskalia a návrhmi na ich riešenie či zmiernenie.
