Geochemistry of stream bottom sediments in Zlín catchments and their influence on migration properties of inorganic pollutants

Abstract:

Cílem předkládané diplomové práce je geochemická charakteristika dnových sedimentů v povodí řeky Moravy ve zlínské oblasti. Sledované byly toky od hlavní řeky Moravy, přes střední řeku Dřevnici až po malé zdrojové toky Bratřejovku a Lutoninku. Složení a vlastnosti dnového sedimentu se odvíjí od vlastností zdrojových hornin a vlastností vodného prostředí. Nepříznivý vliv na záchyt těžkých kovů v prostředí má antropogenní činnost. Látky nerozpuštěné ve vodě jsou vodou unášeny jako plaveniny a část se jich usazuje jako dnový sediment. V první části diplomové práce bylo popsáno chemické složení dnového sedimentu a chemické složení vody a jejich možný vliv na záchyt těžkých kovů. Ve druhé části práce bylo pomocí geochemického modelování zjišťováno v jaké formě se těžké kovy ve vodě a v dnovém sedimentu vyskytují a zda jsou přírodního původu či způsobené antropogenní zátěží. Na závěr bylo vyhodnoceno, zda podél sledovaných toků nedochází k dlouhodobé kumulaci obsahů těžkých kovů a zda mohou představovat riziko při náhlých povodňových událostech.

Abstract:

The aim of the presented thesis is the geochemical characteristic of the bottom sediments in the basin of the river Morava in Zlin region. The streams of the main river Morava were monitored from the middle size river Drevnice to the origins Bratejovka and Lutoninka. The compositions and the characteristics of the ground sediments are determined by the composition of the source rocks and the properties of the water environment. Unfavourable impact on the heavy metals capture has an anthropogenic activity. Undissolved solids in the water are transported as the suspended sediments and some portion of them is subsided as the bottom sediments. The first part of thesis is characterized the chemistry of the bottom sediment and water environment and their possible influence on the heavy metals mobility. In the second part of the thesis there were investigated by the geochemical model forms of heavy metals in water and in bottom sediment, and their sources or if they are affected by the anthropogenic load. In the closing part there was analyzed possible long term accumulation of the heavy metal along the monitored streams and if they could constitute risk at sudden flood event.
