Vegetation of grazed dry grasslands of the Upper Hron region (Slovakia)

Abstract:

Vegetation of dry grasslands in the Horehronie region has not been comprehensively studied in the past. Dry grasslands occur mostly on sunny, dolomitic and limestone slopes at the lowest altitudes of the studied area between the Slovenská Ľupča and Telgárt villages. The study sites were mostly used for grazing in the past, however most of them remains abandoned and has been overgrown by shrubs and trees. In this thesis, 40 original phytocoenological relevés of non-forest dry grassland vegetation collected during the season 2020 has been used. Environmnetal factors such as altitude, orientation, slope, soil depth and soil pH were measured. The relevés were classified into 5 groups with different ecology and species composition, spanning from communities on rocky slopes with open herb canopy to more mesophilous grasslands on deeper soils. From the syntaxonomical point of view, study vegetation belongs into the alliances Festucion valesiacea Klika 1931, Bromo pannonici-Festucion pallentis zólyomi 1966 and Cirsio-Brachypodion pinnati Hadač et Klika ex Klika 1951. One relevé taken in limestone scree vegetation belongs to the association Vincetoxicetum hirundinariae Kaiser 1926 (Stipion calamagrostis Br.-Bl. et al. 1952). In order to identify main compositional gradients and their correlation with environmental variation, Detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) with a posteriori projected mean Ellenberg indication values and measured variables has been performed. According to correlation with main axes of DCA graph, moisture, nutrients, soil depth, light and temperature have been identified as most important factors accounting for the variability of study communities.

Abstract:

Vegetace suchých trávníků v oblasti Horehroní dosud nebyla komplexně prozkoumána. Tento typ rostlinných společenstev se ve studovaném území v údolí Hronu, od Slovenské Ľupče po Telgárt, vyskytuje zejména v nejnižších polohách, a to na výslunných svazích na dolomitech a vápencích. Tyto lokality byly v minulosti využívány především jako pastviny, dnes je však většina z nich opuštěna a zarůstá křovinami a stromy. V této práci je prezentováno 40 vlastních fytocenologických snímků nelesní vegetace suchých trávníků. Snímky byly zapsány během vegetační sezóny 2020. K jednotlivým snímkům byly zjišťovány i faktory prostředí - nadmořská výška, orientace svahu, sklon svahu, hloubka půdy a pH půdy. Zápisy byly klasifikovány do pěti ekologicky a druhovým složením odlišných skupin, od otevřených společenstev na skalnatých svazích po vlhčí zapojeny trávníky. Ze syntaxonomického hlediska patří studovaná vegetace do svazů Festucion valesiacea Klika 1931, Bromo pannonica-Festucion pallentis Zólyomi 1966, Cirsio-Brachypodion pinnata Hadač et Klika ex Klika 1951 a jeden snímek přináleží k suťovým společenstvům asociace Vincetoxicetum hirundinariae Kaiser 1926 (Stipion Calamagrostis Br.-Bl. et al. 1952). S využitím Ellenbergových indikačních hodnot, zjištěných faktorů prostředí a vlastností vegetace byla provedena nepřímá ordinační analýza (DCA). Nejdůležitější faktory prostředí podmiňující variabilitu druhového složení společenstev jsou podle korelace s hlavními osami DCA vlhkost, živiny, hloubka půdy, světlo a teplota.
