Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá feminismem původních obyvatel Severní Ameriky a pohledem na tento aktivismus ze strany jejich komunit. Ačkoli se po kolonizaci zemí Severní Ameriky byly nucené původní kmeny a etnické skupiny přizpůsobit patriarchálnímu systému tehdejších Evropanů a dosavadní rovnost pohlaví v původních komunitách tedy z velké části zanikla, jsou ženy z těchto komunit odrazovány od participace ve feministických hnutích, která jsou jejich komunitami často vnímána jako neautentická a zbytečná. Tato přesvědčení přetrvávají i přes to, že mužské elity původních národů samy využívají benefitů, která jim nastolená patriarchální společnost přináší. Dále nevnímají feminismus původních obyvatel jako něco užitečného pro celé jejich komunity, ale jako produkt koloniální moci a politiky, která ničí tradiční hodnoty původních obyvatel. Pravda je ovšem taková, že feminismus původních obyvatel se v mnoha ohledech liší od konvenčního západního feminismu Evropské tradice, jelikož se zabývá aspekty společenské i enviromentální spravedlnosti, a přináší s sebou mnoho benefitů pro celé společnosti původních skupin, nehledě na jejich pohlaví či gender.

Abstract:

This thesis examines Indigenous North American feminism and its perspective within Indigenous communities. Although after the colonization of the countries of North America, Indigenous tribes and ethnic groups were forced to adapt to the patriarchal system of Europeans at the time, and the existing gender equality in Indigenous communities thus largely disappeared, women from these communities are frequently discouraged from participating in feminist movements, which are often perceived by Indigenous communities as inauthentic and useless. These beliefs persist even though the male elites of Indigenous peoples themselves benefit from the established patriarchal society. Moreover, they do not see Indigenous feminism as something useful for their communities, but as a product of colonial power and policies that destroy traditional Indigenous values. However, Indigenous feminism differs in many ways from conventional, traditionally European Western feminism. It addresses social and environmental justice, bringing numerous benefits to entire Indigenous societies, irrespective of the sex or gender of their members.
