Visual Proofs in Calculus

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je sbírkou obrázkových odvození z matematické analýzy. Všechny myšlenky odvození jsou přejaté ze sbírky Rogera B. Nelsena, Cameos for Calculus, přičemž tato bakalářská práce je interpretuje a více zpřístupňuje pro méně znalé pokročilé matematické analýzy. Je členěna do čtyř kapitol podle vybraných témat, jimiž jsou limity a derivace, integrály, nekonečné řady, a středoškolská témata. Obrázková odvození jsou interpretována tak, aby čtenářům pomohla s pochopením a dala jim možnost nahlédnout na jiná než algebraická odvození. Témata jsou vybrána tak, aby se s nimi studenti setkali na střední škole nebo v prvních dvou ročnících vysoké školy. V textu pana Nelsena jsou na konci většiny z témat příklady, které jsou v této bakalářské práci vyřešeny a plynule zakomponovány do textu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is a collection of pictorial deductions from mathematical analysis. All ideas of deductions are taken from the collection of Mr. Roger B. Nelsen, Cameos for Calculus, and this bachelor’s thesis interprets them and makes them more accessible to those less familiar with advanced mathematical analysis. It is divided into four chapters according to selected topics, which are limits and derivatives, integrals, infinite series, and high school topics. The pictorial deductions are interpreted to aid readers’ understanding and give them insight into non-algebraic deductions. The topics are chosen so that students will encounter them in high school or the first two years of college. Mr. Nelsen’s text includes exercises at the end of most of the topics. These exercises are solved and incorporated in this bachelor thesis.
