Abstract:

Olympijské hry jsou už po více než století nejpopulárnější sportovní událostí, nicméně také slouží jako aréna pro politické hry různých aktérů. Samotné pořadatelské země používají tuto událost jako nástroj pro provedení jejich domácí a zahraniční politiky. Jelikož by hry měly být v původním smyslu apolitické, toto téma zatím nebylo v akademické sféře příliš zkoumáno. Tato bakalářská práce má za cíl analyzovat politické procesy během Olympiády a snaží se zjistit, jaká dědictví získává pořadatelská země jak v domácí, tak zahraniční politice. Tato bakalářská práce je rozdělena na obecnou část a případovou studii her v Pekingu v roce 2008, které slouží jako výjimečný příklad politizace Olympijských her.

Abstract:

The Olympic Games have been the most popular sport event for over a century. However, it has also been an arena for political plays by various actors. Host countries themselves use this event as a tool for conducting their domestic and foreign policy. Since the Games should be apolitical in its sense, this topic has rather been understudied in the academic sphere. This thesis aims at analysing the political process in the Olympics and attempts to find out what legacies in domestic and foreign policy host countries gain. The thesis is divided into a general part and a case study of the 2008 Beijing Games, which serve as an exceptional example of the politicization of the Olympics.
