Overview of haptic sensors and their use

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zaměřit se na kategorii haptických senzorů a aktuátorů, popsat jejich význam, typy, konstrukce, vlastnosti a využití a provést jejich vhodný výběr z pohledu přenosu informace pro hluchoslepé osoby. Dále je diskutován směr vývoje a nejnovější trendy v oblasti haptických senzorů a aktuátorů a komunikačních systémů pro hluchoslepé. Lidé trpící hluchoslepotou jsou v krajních případech odkázáni na komunikaci pouze prostřednictvím hmatu, což vyžaduje speciální komunikační techniky, které nejsou běžně využívány. Výběr vhodných senzorů a aktuátorů a jejich aplikace ve vhodném zařízení by hluchoslepým usnadnila dorozumívání se svým okolím. Práce dále nastiňuje možnosti realizace konkrétních komunikačních zařízení, která mohou být na základě těchto poznatků vyvinuta a následně v praxi využívána hluchoslepými ke komunikaci.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to focus on the category of haptic sensors and actuators, to describe their meaning, types, constructions, properties and uses, and to make their selection from the point of view information transmission for deafblind. Furthermore, the direction of development and the latest trends in the field of haptic sensors and actuators and communication systems for deafblind are discussed. In extreme cases of deafblindness, people rely on communication only through the sense of touch, which requires special communication techniques that are not commonly used. The selection of suitable sensors and actuators and their application in a suitable device would facilitate communication for the deafblind. Further, the bachelor thesis outlines the possibilities of implementatiton of specific communication devices, which can be developed based on this knowledge and practically used by deafblind to communicate.
