Cytochrom P450 zahrnuje velkou rodinu enzymů, které obsahují hem jako aktivní místo. Od konce 70. let minulého století byly pokusy soustředěny na výstavbu a rozvoj elektrochemických sensorů. Přestože byly konstruovány i sensory založené na mediátorem zprostředkovaném transportu elektronů, hlavní zájem byl věnován sensorům, které jsou založené na přímém elektronovém transportu. Cytochrome P450 is a large family of enzymes containing heme as the active site. Since the late 1970s attemps have concentrated on the construction and development of electrochemical sensors. Although sensors based on mediated electron transver have also been constructed, the direct electron transfer approach has attracted most of the interest.
