Georg Philipp Telemann and analysis of Twelve Fantasies for Flute without Bass TWV 40:2-13

Abstract:

The master thesis presents in its core the power of rhetoric through character meanings of the keys used in Georg Philipp Telemann's Twelve Fantasias for flute without bass TWV 40:2-13, it analyzes diverse forms, recognises national styles and perceives dances of individual movements. Furthermore, it gives a perspective about the added embellishments from the viewpoint of a traverso flute player and deals with individual enigmas that appear in some Fantasias. In addition, the composer's life and work as well as the development of Fantasia are described in the opening.
