The System of Values, the Norms and the Life Strategies in the Romany families - The Determinants of Educational Barriers

Abstract:

V předkládané práci se zaměřujeme se na výzkum hodnot, norem a životních strategií v několika romských rodinách především ve vztahu ke vzdělávání. Naší snahou bylo zjistit, do jaké míry determinují osvojené hodnoty a normy každého jedince jeho následnou úspěšnost ve vzdělávacím procesu. Zároveň se však snažíme poukázat na školu, jakožto kulturně a sociálně ustanovenou instituci, a na nastavení vzdělávacího systému v České republice, který mnohdy kulturně a sociálně determinované znevýhodnění romských dětí svými přístupy ještě více prohlubuje. Cílem této práce bylo tedy poukázat na potřebu vyhledávání kulturně a sociálně determinovaných příčin selhávání romských dětí v procesu vzdělávání a na nutnost jejich hodnocení v širším kontextu.

Abstract:

In this master diploma thesis we attend to the issue of education the Romany children in Czech Republic. We focus on study and analysis of the values orientation, norms and life strategy in the Romany families as possible determinants of the educational barriers of Romany children in Czech educational system. The main goal of this thesis was to analyse the cultural and social specification of the Romany children and their families, which are could/should be afterwards used as the basis of editing the structure of the educational programme of the scholar. The research we realized in Northern Moravia, what’s part of Czech Republic where live big number of members of Romany ethnic group. We would like to show, how the cultural and social anthropology could help with finding the hidden reasons of failing the Romany children in the educational process. We work on the field of applied anthropology, because the findings adventitious during the field work are forthwith applied into the methodology of work with the social and cultural disadvantage children.
